EPFO TO ACCEPT AADHAAR CARD AS BIRTH PROOF AS ONLINE FROM SUBSCRIBERS
Retirement fund body i.e. EPFO will accept online its subscribers' Aadhaar card as a valid proof to correct their date of birth to ensure that the KYC can be updated and the applicant will remain KYC compliant.
Due to the lockdown period, this step was taken to increase the provision and reach of online services, the EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organization) has issued amended instructions to its field offices for the convenience of PF members to amend their date of birth in EPFO records, for ensuring that their UAN is KYC compliant.
According to this statement the date of birth mentioned in Aadhaar will now be accepted as a valid proof of date of birth for the aim of amendment given that the difference within the two dates is a smaller amount than 3 years.
Now the PF subscribers can submit their correction requests through online process.
Through this the EPFO is instructed to validate the birth date of members online with Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) instantly thus validating and reducing the interval time of change requests.
The EPFO has given instructions to the field offices to hurry up the disposal of online requests so that the Provident Fund members in this financial suffering can apply online for the availing non-refundable advance from their PF accumulations.
The last relief related with the withdrawal of three months basic pay and dearness allowance as non-refundable advance was allowed to only whose KYC (Know You Customer) compliance was up so far.
