APEDA a government concern responsible of listing of the export of specified products. APEDA full form is “Agricultural and processed food products export development Authority”.
Products that are mentioned under this act are called Scheduled Product, and exporter of these products required this registration. Following are the Scheduled Products:-
Fruits, Vegetables, and their Products.
Meat and Meat Products.
Poultry and Poultry Products.
Dairy Products.
Confectionery, Biscuits, and Bakery Products.
Honey, Jaggery, and Sugar Products.
Cocoa and its other products, chocolates of all kinds.
Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages.
Cereal and Cereal Products.
Groundnuts, Peanuts, and Walnuts.
Pickles, Papads, and Chutneys.
Guar Gum.
Floriculture and Floriculture Products.
Herbal and Medicinal Plants.
Objective of APEDA
The objective of APEDA is to stimulate the export of scheduled products.
Role of Central Government under APEDA ACT:-
Central government furnish the rules and regulation and implements through this body for the efficient administration of APEDA Act.

Authorities are designated with functions such as:
Advancement of export-oriented production and development of the Scheduled products.
Setting the standards, specifications, and registration of exporters for the scheduled products.
Upgrading the packaging and advertising of the Scheduled products.
Conduct inspection for checking the quality of the products.
Conduct training sessions for different sectors associated with these products.
Evolution of industries relating to the scheduled products and conduct surveys, feasibility studies, Collection of statistics, etc.

Myths of APEDA
1. The proprietor having a small-scale business cannot register: This is a myth that the proprietors cannot register themselves under the APEDA whereas every entity can register them.
2. Import and export certificate is optional: The import and export certificate (IEC) is the mandatory certification that is required for the APEDA and with this certificate, only the login creation will proceed.
3. The certificate is valid for a limited time: The APEDA registration is a one-time registration and there is no provision of renewal and no provision of expiration of the same.
4. Nothing has to be filed after registration: After getting the registration certificate the exporter needs to file the online returns with the authority.

In the case of Manufacturer Exporter, a self-attested copy of the registration of the organization with the relevant certification agencies for the products needs to be attached
Online registration process
Application for registration under this act should be filled under one month of starting the business. In case of failure, the time limit can be extended only in case of valid reasons.
Step 1:- Sign-up through the APEDA Website. (Click on the "Register as Member" link on the Home Page. The exporters require to first enter the IE CODE, Email ID & Mobile number, and submit.
Step 2:- An OTP for confirming the details will be sent by E-mail and Mobile number. Enter OTP of mobile and E-mail and click on Submit to proceed for application.
Step 3:- Next Step is to fill the online application and affix the required documents in the format of either of these JPEG, PDF, or PNG only.
Step 4:-Registration fees of Rs. 5000/- excluding taxes = Rs. 5900/- (with GST) maybe made through any of the following ways:-

Credit Card(MasterCard and Visa)
Debit Card (MasterCard and Visa)
Offline
Demand draft in favor of “APEDA” payable at relevant cities of APEDA offices

Step 6:-An application number is generated after payment validation.
Step 7:- On issuance of RCMC, Login detail will be sent to the registered email of the exporter. Login into the account by “Exporter Login” link given at the APEDA website.
Step 8:-Status of the RCMC application can be viewed by clicking the “Track Application” link to view the status of the application by submitting the IE Code and Application number until it is issued.
Step 8:-If there is any shortcoming in the application the exporter will have to monitor and resubmit the document online.
Step 9:-The final procedure is the approval of RCMC from APEDA officials and once the approval is granted the Certificate can be taken using APEDA Login under the heading of “View RCMC Certificate” under RCMC Menu. It is a one-time registration in the life time of the organization and remains valid until department cancels it and all the registered members are governed by the rules & regulations under APEDA Act.
Compliances Post-registration
The exporter has to file the returns and the returns will be submitted online through the login credentials shared by the department after the approval of the RCMC certificate and the filling should have the details of the magnitude of exports ended by the exporters.
