Fees of FSSAI And Whether It Can Applied Online:-

FSSAI stands for the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India it is an organization that keeps an eye on the food operating a business in India. It is an independent body that is established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

The FSSAI has been established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 which is a combining statute related to food safety and regulation in India. FSSAI provides a food license, keep quality check and hygiene of food business, it also prepares rules and regulation for running the food business in India.

Every food business operator whether involved in any of the activity related with food, for example: - manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, packing and sale of food products mandatorily have FSSAI Registration or License.

FSSAI Registration

FSSAI Registration depends on the nature, turnover, and size of the Food business one is involved in it, accordingly, FBO should obtain the necessary registration or license.

FSSAI department provides a 14-digit registration or a license number which is to be printed on all the food packages. This number gives details related to the assembling state, producer’s permit. FLRS (Food Licensing & Registration System) is an online application that smoothens the process of applying and tracking food License / Registration in India.

Now from 1^st July 2020, FSSAI has launched a new system for applying for registration/license of food which is: - Food Safety Compliance System (FOSCOS) for the states/UTs of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Gujarat, Goa, Odisha, Manipur, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Ladakh.

1. ELIGIBILITY

• For Basic FSSAI Registration:- if annual turnover below 12 lakhs
• For State FSSAI License:- if annual turnover above 12 lakhs and below 20 crores
• For Central FSSAI License:- if annual turnover above 20 crores

2. TIME PERIOD

• Basic FSSAI Registration takes 7 to 12 working days for approval in normal circumstances
• State license and Central license takes 45 to 60 days for approval in normal circumstances

3. VALIDITY

FSSAI registration as well as a license can be done for 1 to 5 years and is to be renewed accordingly so the business must apply for renewal 30 days prior to the expiry of the current license

4. PENALTY

If the application for FSSAI Registration/ License renewal isn't documented in the stipulated time, then Rs. 100 per day would be fined. Non - Renewal of the food license could lead to punishment also along with a penalty.

Basic FSSAI Registration

• NOC from the manufacturer (in case of re-labelers and re-packers)

PROCEDURE FOR FSSAI REGISTRATION AND LICENSE

Basic FSSAI Registration:-

• In the new FOSCOS system, while sig up the portal name of the applicant, phone number, email id of the application is to be filled.

• On these mail id and phone number OTP will be received and after that user id and password will be received.
• Fill application Form A by filling in the details of the applicant and details related to the food business to the food and security office.
• InFORM A photo of the applicant, bill of the food premises, KYC of the applicant, and self-declaration are to be attached.
• When the department receives the application, then Registering Authority (RA) may conduct an inspection.
• If an inspection is conducted by RA then the certificate will be generated within 30 days, otherwise, the department issues the certificate in 7 to 12 days in normal circumstances. 

State and Central FSSAI License

• In the new FOSCOS system, while sign up the portal name of the applicant, phone number, email id of the application is to be filled in.

• On these mail id and phone number OTP will be received and after that user id and password will be received.
• Fill Form B is for State FSSAI License when the food unit’s turnover is less than 20 crores and the area of operation is limited to the state only. It is issued by the Government of state.
• Fill form B for Central FSSAI License when the food unit's turnover is in excess of 20 crores. It is issued by the Central Government of India.
• Registering Authority (RA) may conduct an inspection.
• After Inspection (if conducted) and documents scrutinization department issues a certificate in 60 working days in normal circumstances.
• Sometimes physical visits are also required by the Food business operator in the FSSAI department of the area.

*For FSSAI Registration:-

The businesses that are petting food seller, retailers, who manufactures there food on their own, non-permanent food stallholders, needs to obtain the FSSAI Registration are as follows:

The government cost of Registration per year is:- Rs. 100

The government cost of Renewal per year is:- Rs. 100

*For FSSAI State License Fees structure is:-

 (1) Government Fees for 4 Stars Hotel is Rs. 5000.

(2) Government Fees for manufacturer and miller who produces 501 to 2500 MT of milk solids per year, has up to 10,001 to 50,000 LPD of milk, or has a production of more than 1MT per day is Rs. 5000.

(3) Government Fees for manufacture or miller who produces less than 1 MT of milk, or 501 to 10,000 LPD of milk, or 2.5 MP to 500 MT of milk solids per year is Rs. 3000.

(4) Government Fees for food business vendors and other food business operators that include clubs, restaurant/boarding houses, etc is Rs. 2000

5) Government Fees for food business operators serving food including canteens in schools, colleges, institutions and offices, caterers, and banquet halls with food catering arrangements are Rs. 2000.

(6) Renewal fees depend upon the number of years selected.

*For FSSAI Central Licensing Fees

Central FSSAI License is required for manufacturers, entrepreneurs, food business operators involved in the Central Government Agency, ports, and food business operators connected to the airport.

Central FSSAI License Fees structure is:-

(1) For New FSSAI Central License government fees is Rs. 7500 per year.

2) Renewal of Central License has government fees is Rs. 7500 per year.
